Recognised as the capital of Scotland since at least the 15th century, Edinburgh is the
seat of the Scottish Government, the Scottish Parliament, and the highest courts in Scotland.

Edinburgh Castle is a historic castle in Edinburgh, Scotland. It stands on Castle Rock, which has been
occupied by humans since at least the Iron Age, although the nature of the early settlement is unclear.

The castle has become a recognisable symbol of Edinburgh, and of Scotland. It appears, in stylised form,
on the coats of arms of the City of Edinburgh Council and the University of Edinburgh.

As one of the most important strongholds in the Kingdom of Scotland, Edinburgh Castle was involved in many historical
conflicts from the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century to the Jacobite rising of 1745.

St Giles' Cathedral (Scottish Gaelic: Cathair-eaglais Naomh Giles), or the High Kirk of Edinburgh, is a parish church of the Church of Scotland in the Old Town.
The current building was begun in the 14th century and extended until the early 16th century. PIC West façade.

Likely founded in the 12th century and dedicated to Saint Giles, the church was elevated to collegiate status by Pope Paul II in 1467.

On the south side, about one-third of the way down from the Castle toward the Palace is Parliament Square, named after the old Parliament House
which housed both the law courts and the old Parliament of Scotland between the 1630s and 1707 (when its existence was ended by the Act of Union).
Parliament House now houses the Court of Session, Scotland's supreme civil court.
St Giles' Cathedral, the High Kirk of Edinburgh, also stands in Parliament Square.

the station's central section, with the greater half of the station being west of North Bridge.
