Central Eastern Europe MUNCHEN 2019 Munich is known for its breweries and the Weissbier (or Weissbier / Weizenbier, wheat beer) is a speciality from Bavaria. A Weisswurst (German Weisswurst), literally white sausage) is a traditional Bavarian sausage made from minced veal and pork back bacon. It is usually flavored with parsley, lemon, mace, onions, ginger, and cardamom, although there are some variations. Munich has much more to offer - particularly for gays and lesbians. The state capital of Bavaria is a liberal metropolis, in which lesbians and gays are a natural part of the society. There are numerous bars, restaurants and shops, but also a wide range of non-commercial groups and associations - there is something for every taste. Truly unique was Munich's city council from May 1996 till April 2014: The Social Democrats, the Green Party and the gay and lesbian party "Rosa Liste" formed a coalition together. The city council changed in May 2014, but "Rosa Liste" is still a part of the city council. The very first Munich Pride (CSD) took place on June 28, in 1980. In 2019 we are celebrating the 40th CSD in Munich (over 200.000 people).
